Why is Prostate
Screening Important?
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) affects over 50% of men aged 50+. It causes urinary difficulties including frequent urination, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying (LUTS). Regular screening helps detect problems early — both BPH and prostate cancer.

Diagnosis & Treatment Options
M-Trust Urology Clinic provides a comprehensive pathway from initial screening through advanced treatment, tailoring the best approach for each individual patient.
1. Screening (PSA, DRE, Uroflow)
Measure PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) levels, perform DRE (Digital Rectal Exam), and assess urine flow rate (Uroflowmetry) to evaluate prostate size and symptom severity. [1][2]

2. Advanced Diagnosis (Imaging)
Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) or Prostate MRI for precise sizing, detection of abnormal lesions, and surgical planning.

3. Treatment Options
From BPH medication to minimally invasive procedures like UroLift (tissue retraction) and Rezūm (water vapor therapy), plus TURP and HoLEP for large prostates.

Treatment Goal: Restore quality of life — strong urine flow, no nighttime waking, complete bladder emptying — all while preserving sexual function.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answering your questions about prostate screening and BPH treatment
What is BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia)?
BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that commonly occurs in men as they age. The enlarged prostate compresses the urethra, causing urinary symptoms like frequent urination, weak stream, and incomplete emptying.
What is a PSA test and why is it important?
PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is a protein produced by the prostate. Measuring PSA levels in the blood is an effective screening method for prostate cancer. If PSA levels are abnormally high, doctors will conduct further tests such as MRI or biopsy.
What is UroLift? How is it different from traditional surgery?
UroLift is a minimally invasive BPH treatment that uses tiny implants to lift and hold the enlarged prostate tissue away from the urethra. No tissue is cut or removed. The procedure takes only 15-30 minutes and preserves sexual function, unlike TURP which requires tissue resection.
What is Rezūm therapy?
Rezūm uses water vapor (steam) at 103°C injected into enlarged prostate tissue. The targeted cells are absorbed naturally, causing the prostate to shrink over 3-6 months.
When should I see a doctor about prostate problems?
See a doctor if you experience: frequent urination especially at night, weak or intermittent stream, straining to urinate, incomplete emptying, blood in urine, or inability to urinate. The sooner you seek help, the easier and more options available for treatment.
